Apache NetBeans is much more than a text editor. It highlights source code syntactically and semantically, lets you easily refactor code, with a range of handy and powerful tools.
To run the samples, you must have the JDK 8 software. Since the samples include the corresponding NetBeans projects files, using the NetBeans IDE is the simplest way to run the sample applications.
